The Run Leaders
Annabelle Suminski
My current focus is to continue with the trail clinics, and train for the Kusam Climb 2007. My favorite books are all kinds of who dunnits. My favorite race is the Pearl Harbour 10K. And my personal Heroes? a few...Fiona Taylor, my massage therapist -Chinese Medicine Dr and friend - who is on a spiritual journey and shares her wealth of knowledge to help make the world a better place for all; Lori Herron (run leader with Mike's clinic) and Doris Dubicki who are training for the Elk Lake Ultra (again!), run back to back marathons, who train even with such busy lives and are beautiful women - inside and out; my running buddy and friend Jacqui, who unknowingly lives by "The Secret" - and wins contest after contest; Evan Fagan who continues to astonish us all by running over 130 marathons, and will race in the Ironman for the 3rd time, at the age of 70; and to Michael with his enthusiasm, loves to share his passion for running and life with his clinic and students, and who is training for the Leadville 100, 2nd time, this August, and finally to the support team who travels to Leadville to pace, support, and encourage Mike to fullfil his goal - because without them - it would be left up to me - I'd turn left, not right, and end up California.
Most interesting race is the Leadville 100 and San Fransico's Escape from Alcatraz (where our good friend Wayne did his triathlon - and got hardware)
My personal philosophy on life and running? Be easy going, appreciate what we have, and run so I can eat Cheese cake.

I have been running seriously since 1995. I started as a way of controlling weight but soon realized I really enjoyed running and the wonderful people you meet and places you see.
I have done at least 30 Half Marathons, 7 Marathons (Boston 2008), 6 Ultra Marathons and Kusam Klimb 3 times. I hope to do at least 2 Ultra Marathons and the New York Marathon in 2011.
Trails, trails, trails,I love them. Trails are soft, beautiful, peaceful and because trails are technical, time and distance fly buy.

It's commonplace to be "busy", and "not have the time" however I believe that nothing is more vital than one's health, being mental or physical. The current issue of the manufactured complexities of a modern lifestyle commanding our destiny are worrisome. Our nation's weight and health issues are the single most important national issue today; more important than the environment, security and infrastructure combined. We need to get lighter, healthier and spend more time sourcing and preparing our own whole local food.
That's my soap box speech, and what I believe is important. I began running because I was tired of being unhealthy. Running with the Suminski Trail Runners is powerful and energizing and I'm extremely fortunate to a part of such an inspiring group of people. If you're looking for a running group that will physically challenge you, but support you like family then you've come to the right place.

I'm back after way too long dealing with an injury. That'll teach me for not training! The whole Sunday morning thing is awesome. It's fun, social, caffeinated, keeps me focused as well as fit and helps put my goals into perspective. One more White River before too long would be nice. My heros will always be people who go the extra mile to help others just because they can, and kids who have to go through hell and manage to come out smiling.

I've been running with Mike since the late 90's. In those days we were still mostly road running and only did the occasional trail run. We became trail runners in 2002, when Mike signed up for his first Ledville 100 mile race. I ran almost every step of his training with him that spring and summer and I was hooked. I haven't been back to the roads since. There's just something about getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city and instead, getting out into nature that appeals to me. I've run several ultra marathons, ranging in distance from 50 km to 50 miles, but I must say that the 100 mile distance has been calling to me lately. Who knows, maybe 2011 will be the year!
Moe The Eagle
Hi there,
I'm Moe, or Moe the Eagle.... 30 years a runner this April 2011. 24 years on trails (first Ultra a 50 miler at Kelowna in 1986). I know, I know before some of the group was born. Now a member of AA (Allergic to Asphalt!) RD'd a dozen Ultras over 15-20 years, including 5 x 100 milers. Ran 9 marathons, dozens of lesser distance road races. 116 Ultras. I love to help folks train plus little incites that may help them run certain Ultra events easier. 98% of the stuff I will tell you is fact! The rest COULD be just colour commentary!! Every time I run I learn something from SOMEONE out there. Heroes, well lots.. A few are my three grown kids, one Logan is a kick-ass Ultra runner now who has handled his setbacks in life in a most admirable way. My Parents, bless their hearts, were always there for me. Plus YOU and I are our own heroes too!!
